Turkey Brie Cranberry Sandwich Ingredients

  • Artisan Bread: We choose a sturdy bread, like sourdough or ciabatta for the best results. The bread should hold up well to toasting and not become soggy.
  • Roasted Turkey or Cooked Turkey: Thinly sliced turkey breast works best. If using freshly cooked turkey, allow it to cool slightly before assembling the sandwich.
  • Brie Cheese: Use a good-quality brie cheese. Slice it thinly so it melts evenly.
  • Cranberry Sauce: Homemade or store-bought cranberry sauce both work well. The tartness of the cranberry sauce balances the richness of the brie.
  • Butter: Unsalted butter for toasting the bread. It gives the sandwich a golden-brown, crispy texture.
  • Optional: Thinly sliced apple for added crunch and sweetness.

A full ingredient list with exact measurements can be found in the recipe card below.

Substitutions & Variations

  • Turkey: Use deli-sliced chicken.
  • Brie Cheese: Substitute with Camembert for a different flavor profile.
  • Cranberry Sauce: Replace with cranberry compote, fig jam, or apple butter.
  • Flavor: Add sliced apples for a crisp bite.
  • Diet: Use gluten-free bread for a gluten-free version.

FAQ

Can I make this sandwich ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare the sandwich ahead of time, but it is best to toast it just before serving so the bread stays crispy and the cheese melts well. Assembling the sandwich in advance and storing it in the refrigerator can save time.

What type of bread works best for a turkey brie melt?

Artisan bread such as sourdough or ciabatta works best as they hold up well to toasting and have a great texture that complements the filling. These types of bread provide a sturdy base and add a crunch when toasted.
