How to Make Watermelon Caprese Skewers

STEP ONE: Cut the Watermelon

Wash the watermelon and cut it into ½ to 1-inch chunks.

STEP TWO: Make Skewers

Skewers - Dice watermelon into ½-1 inch chunks. Stack the watermelon, followed by a leaf of basil, then mozzarella snacking cheese.

STEP THREE: Serve

Drizzle balsamic glaze on top of the appetizer and serve chilled. *Note - Glaze will soak into the watermelon which tastes great, but may not be as appealing. You can serve with balsamic glaze on the side as another option.

Recipe FAQs

Can I make Watermelon Caprese skewers ahead of time?

Yes, but for the best texture, assemble them just before serving. If prepping ahead, store the watermelon and mozzarella separately in the fridge and add basil and balsamic right before serving to keep everything fresh.

What's the best mozzarella for Watermelon Caprese?

Fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini or ciliegine) work best because they're soft, creamy, and easy to skewer.

Does watermelon pair well with Caprese ingredients?

Yes! Watermelon's natural sweetness balances the tangy balsamic, creamy mozzarella, and fresh basil, creating a perfect mix of flavors. The high water content also makes it extra refreshing, making this a great summer appetizer.
